Dental Bonding Can Help You Achieve a Dramatic Smile Transformation

Dental bonding is an ideal cosmetic procedure for patients who desire a less invasive, more affordable treatment than dental veneers. Unlike veneers, which are composed of porcelain, dental bonding utilizes composite resin to achieve similar results. Dr. Ron L. Shiver performs dental bonding at our Valdosta, GA, office in a single visit to repair minor cosmetic flaws and achieve immediate and dramatic results. Through dental bonding, Dr. Shiver can refine the size and shape of your teeth, repair minor damage, and conceal stains, leaving you with a whiter and more symmetrical smile.

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding uses a specialized composite resin, the same material used for tooth-colored dental fillings. This material can be shaped and cured to match the desired shape of your teeth, and is strong and durable. We will match the resin to the shade of your surrounding teeth for a seamless and natural look. This aesthetic solution is ideal for minor cosmetic imperfections, including:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Stains that are unresponsive to teeth whitening

Who is a Candidate for Dental Bonding?

Ideal candidates for this treatment are in good oral health. Issues such as tooth decay and gum disease must be effectively treated before undergoing a cosmetic procedure. Candidates also should not smoke because composite resin is susceptible to staining. This material also does not respond to professional teeth whitening, so once the resin becomes stained, we must either remove it or replace it.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

Dental bonding can typically be completed in a single procedure at our office. Your total treatment time will depend on the number of teeth that require bonding. To begin your treatment, Dr. Shiver will carefully mix the composite resin solution to match the shade of your surrounding teeth. He may use a safe, gentle etching solution to the teeth being treated to create a better bonding surface for the composite resin. Dr. Shiver will then apply the composite resin, carefully sculpting the material to achieve your desired results. Using a specialized curing light, he will harden the composite, and check to ensure that your bite is properly aligned. Once you are both satisfied, he may polish the  bonding site for a natural-looking shine.

With the immediate and dramatic transformation that dental bonding delivers, you can leave our office with a smile that appears straighter, more uniform, and brighter.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a quick and non-invasive procedure that requires zero downtime. This treatment requires no alteration of tooth enamel, making it a great alternative for patients who lack sufficient amounts of dental tissue to receive porcelain veneers. The procedure is also more affordable than veneers. With the immediate and dramatic transformation that dental bonding delivers, you can leave our office with a smile that is straighter, more uniform, and brighter. You may notice a significant increase in your self-confidence, which can greatly impact your quality of life.
